When I was growing up in Sri Lanka, masks weren’t decorations — they were alive with colour, story, and spirit. In my Christian home they were forbidden, but I was captivated by how they turned fear into art and chaos into beauty. Years later, I realised food does the same thing — every spice blend tells a story, every curry a ritual. Through Little Big Flavour Kits, I’m sharing that same storytelling tradition — unmasking culture, memory, and joy one dish at a time.
Great Taste Award
We’re proud to have been awarded a prestigious Great Taste Award for our Pol Sambol, a huge honour in the world of food. The judges described it as “warm and inviting,” with “clean, light aromatic notes of coconut and spice” and praised its “chewy, satisfying texture” and “bold, lively heat.” They highlighted the balance of spices, the freshness, and the rich depth of flavour, calling it “a great addition to a curry-loving kitchen.”
We couldn’t agree more.
When chilli meets coconut and lemon hits the bowl, something simple turns special. Our Pol (Coconut) Sambol is a wonderfully spiced Sri Lankan relish — bright, fiery, and full of life. (it's vegan too!)
It’s beautifully versatile too — try it piled high on crusty bread with soft, drippy eggs for the ultimate comfort sandwich. The spice cuts through the richness, the coconut adds sweetness, and together they make something that feels indulgent but effortless — simple cooking that tastes extraordinary.
A tip from one of our regulars: she freezes hers in an ice cube tray to enjoy it in perfect little portions. (Ours never hangs about that long!)
